β€” INVESTING IN WHISKY

A tangible asset, professionally sourced and managed.

For investors looking beyond traditional markets, EWI Group builds bespoke portfolios of investment-grade whisky casks and rare bottles. Sourced through 15 years of industry relationships, each position is selected for provenance, rarity, maturity, demand and entry price - providing direct ownership of a scarce physical asset with multiple potential exit routes.

THE ASSET

Whisky that becomes rarer as it matures.

Unlike bottled whisky, whisky held in cask continues to evolve - developing greater depth, complexity and maturity with time. At the same time, natural evaporation, known as the angel’s share, steadily reduces the volume remaining in the cask. It is an unusual dynamic: the whisky improves as the available quantity declines, creating increasing scarcity within an already finite asset.

THE MARKET CASE

Demand can grow. Aged supply cannot.

Global demand for mature Scotch continues to grow, particularly across Asia and the US, while aged supply remains inherently constrained. Distilleries can increase production today, but they cannot create a 20- or 30-year-old whisky tomorrow. Growing demand against a finite supply of mature stock is one of the fundamental drivers of whisky’s long-term value.

Casks

Most casks are acquired with a two-to-ten-year investment horizon, allowing maturation and increasing scarcity to support value. We also pursue shorter-term opportunities where exceptional entry pricing creates the potential for a profitable exit within twelve months through multiple sales channels.

Casks, or single bottles.

Two distinct strategies, each suited to a different kind of holding.

HOW TO HOLD IT

Single Bottles

Established, older bottlings typically offer steadier appreciation, while new releases require more selective entry pricing. We generally prefer to buy once the initial auction premium has settled, unless stock is sourced directly from the distillery. Individual bottles can also be assembled into vertical or horizontal collections, where rarity and completeness can create a premium beyond the value of the bottles individually.

HOW EWI SOURCES AND PROTECTS

Three principles, applied to every cask.

Built on 15 years of relationships with trusted suppliers across Scotland, giving us access to casks before they reach the wider market.

SOURCING
PRICING

We target mature casks with established market demand and a proven pricing history. Entry price and realistic exit value drive every purchase - not the prestige of the name.

PROVENANCE

Every cask is personally inspected at its Scottish warehouse before purchase. Holdings remain in segregated, bonded storage, with 24-hour online access allowing ownership, location and status to be independently verified.
